About the event

Learn how to write with structure and style as we get to know the workers who keep a community running smoothly—from firefighters and police officers to road crews and rescue workers.. Students will work through the Institute for Excellence in Writing's (IEW) units 1-3 as they learn to complete key word outlines, take notes, and complete stories.  This course is an excellent first introduction to the IEW method of writing and suits students in grades 2-4.  Students in grade 1 who are writing complete sentences / paragraphs may also benefit from this class.

Light vocabulary and grammar will be included in this course.  Please note that this is the first semester of a year-long course.

***Parents are responsible for purchasing the People and Places in Our Community Writing Lessons Student book (1st edition, September 2017) prior to the first day of class (https://iew.com/shop/products/people-and-places-our-community-student-book), as well as either purchasing or printing out the Student Resource Notebook from IEW.

Class Dates:

September 7, 14, 21, 28

October 5, 12, 19, 26

November 2, 9, 16, 30

December 7, 14

The cost is $220 per semester (per student), or $55 per month if paying on a monthly basis.
